Julie Lakin

Julie Lakin has been a Texas resident since 1985, and has never been without a pet or two in her family. Promoting pet rescue and adoption, coupled with educating the community about pet guardianship, is a mission she embraces. Having two rescued dogs of her own, Shelbi and Chloe, Julie has experienced the joy they feel of having a caring home. Growing up, her family spent time in France and England, and Julie is also looking forward to visiting Italy some day. She has worked in the insurance and environmental industries, most recently as administrator at a primate sanctuary, but found motherhood to be the most challenging occupation. Julie has also spent time volunteering as a mentor for teens and a coordinator at a food bank for animals. She enjoys the art of mosaic, traveling, music, and reading. Julie has two grown sons, and her husband, Greg, runs his own business. They all share a love of animals.
