New program supports local shelters

By Sarah Dahnke

Lucky Litter recently launched its new ScoopFree Shelter Program as an effort to assist animal shelters with fundraising efforts. The company wanted to reach out to local shelters nationwide since so many of them are overworked and understaffed. Providing them with assistance can make their work easier, according to Jim Thompson, sales and marketing assistant for Lucky Litter/ScoopFree.
In addition to giving the organizations a handful of litterboxes, which retail around $250, for use in the shelter or for fundraising efforts, there are benefits for the public. Adoptors will receive a coupon that can be redeemed on ScoopFree’s website. If the new cat guardian chooses to purchase its automatic litter box, the shelter will receive a percentage of the purchase, and the guardian receives a discount. The shelter will continue to earn donation dollars from all future accessories the guardian purchases with the code,  as well.
“The beauty of the program is that it’s ongoing,” Thompson says. “We have a subscription service for our cartridges where you can receive a package of three or six in the mail as often as you choose.”
This program is an extension of the company’s customer service efforts, and their commitment to helping more cats find good homes. “We like to make sure people are happy,” he says. “We’re really excited about this program because we know shelters have enough on their plates,” Thompson says. “We do all of the administrative work. Shelters can be hands-off with us, so they can be hands-on with the cats.”
