How long have you been a veterinarian?

Why did you choose this profession?

As a young student I knew I wanted to be a doctor, a veterinarian, or a dentist and my love for our family pets made me want to choose the
veterinarian route.

What is your favorite part of the job?

The opportunity to meet great people and their pets. People who care about their pets in the best possible way makes my job worthwhile and I love to see how happy and healthy their pets are.

Any pets at home?

My family cares for 2 dogs and 2 cats. Our cats are wonderful house cats who like to cuddle with our kids at night. The dogs love to go for long walks on the Monon Trail and are both very young and healthy and full of spunk.

Any words of wisdom?

I always recommend that clients seek out a veterinarian that they can trust. If you care enough about your pets, you’ll want to know everything you can about their needs. If you don’t understand, ask your vet.

I wanted to create a business that would make [having] a pet easier for busy people.

What is your favorite part of the job?

The greetings I get from the animals when I open the door to the house.

Have you had any crazy incidences or situations?

The nature of the business brings a constant supply of unique situations. There is never a dull moment.

Do you have any pets at home?

I have a Great Dane (Shadoe), German Shepherd Dog (Konnie), Miniature Yorkie (Baby), Cocker Spaniel (Sasha), & three cats (Raven, Chloe, & Miss Kitty). All are female except for my little jaguar-kitty, Raven.

Professionally for 5 years.

What is your favorite part of the job?

Of course working with the dogs. Seeing them learn how to think and problem solve is amazing, but more importantly, I enjoy working with the people.

Do you have any pets at home? Tell us about them.

I have five dogs. I also have four cats and a Pot Belly Pig named Tess. They are not as well trained as one might think; it’s a symptom of the profession.

Any words of wisdom?

Your dog is always learning, teach him what you want him to know and train him how to behave. Spend more time telling him when he is doing something right and less time trying to show him that he is wrong. Most importantly, a tired dog is a good dog!

How has the dog training industry changed?

Over the past 10 years the dog training field has made dramatic advances in training techniques. Methods used by many of today’s top trainers and animal behaviorists are not only dog friendly, but also people friendly. Men, women, and even children can take part in the family dog’s education.
