Help the Animals! Sign the Petition for Animal Cruelty Crimes Act

The American Humane Association (AHA) is urging animal lovers to sign a petition asking their senators to support the Tracking Animal Cruelty Crimes Act of 2007, a measure that is intended to increase the importance of regulating animal cruelty and to ensure that it is treated as a serious crime. The legislation was introduced by U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and would require the FBI to add animal cruelty as a separate category in its crime data reporting system. The AHA has a goal of 20,000 signatures. Go here to sign the petition.

Lost dog in Ann Arbor

MackyMacky, a 16-month-old Australian Shepherd with a docked tail, got loose while his mom was at a wedding in Ann Arbor on Oct. 6. His guardian is especially concerned because they live in Maine so Mackey isn’t familiar with the Ann Arbor area. He can be stand-offish when approached, but may respond to “treatie” and “do you want a drink”. Macky was last seen at N. Seventh and Washington Streets; he is white with red merle, has green eyes, and weighs approximately 50 lbs. If you have either seen him or have found him, please call (734) 668-4009 or (207) 450-9218.
