Woodsman HAS BEEN POSTING ON 100's OF SITES the same exact wording. He’s obviously a landowner with a financial interest in being able to shoot cats on his property. Most of his arguments are distortions of statistics or irrelevant if you check them. Such as links to studies showing that fleas cause disease, etc. So what?
TNR does help reduce cat populations. Those who promote it have the same goal as the landowners like this guy. Cats are just wild animals. The reason they are multiplying on your land is because you upset the ecosystem by killing all the coyotes, wolves, owls, etc. Certain groups are heavily propagandizing to advocate killing of all wild animals in favor of expanding human expansion, profits, etc...Successful TNR threatens their goals.
Shooting cats is not the answer. Some of them are already friendly and have been set free by ignorant people… There’s a lot of youtube videos of happy endings with for feral cats. An example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V0c3shTi-A . If the goal is to eliminate suffering, TNR helps. Also, these programs must be allowed to continue because eventually science can find a more effective way to mass sterilze cats via biotech and perhaps some sort of dna-altering substances which can be put in their food. (and which would only sterilize cats, not other species). Something like that. This would also solve the problem for landowners like the one who’s posting all this over-puffed comments.

How can we get manufacturers to print the source of the foods, vitamins, toys, gadgets on the products and not just the country from which they are distributed? I have found manufacturers less than forthcoming--both for pet and human goods.

WKC is not the boss of Pedigree. Indeed, the reverse would actually be more true since Pedigree was the sponsor (hence paying the money) for the WKC Dog Show. The fact that they are elitest snobs - only concerned with the image of their product - you seem to have completely missed. I have to wonder if your nose was too far up in the air at the time......

Just unliked Westminster Dog show for this ridiculousness! Makes my blood boil. Was trying to get papers for Gracie to compete in AKC agility events, but not anymore. Plenty of other avenues. Dog rescue is not about eschewing purebred dogs, just unscrupluous breeders, and pet shops. Purebred papered dogs can be rescued from a breed specific rescue. One of the westminster winners, a weimariner I believe, came from a rescue. You suck, Westminster.

I am very saddened that they would drop pedigree like that! I my self have a pure breed Doberman I got through foster care that someone used her for breeding and when they were done just threw her away like nothing. Westminster should be ashamed of them selves and pick pedigree back up, it shouldn't matter if you have a purebred from a breeder or shelter. All that matters is that you saved an animal who needs and deserves the love and attention as any other animal.

The only dog show I used to watch was Westminster. Never again! I find it completely lacking in compassion that a dog show would dismiss a sponser so focused on dogs. Does anyone else see the sad irony here? Shame on you Westminster. I do not care that you and Pedigree were going in different directions on which kind of dogs you wanted to celebrate. I used to watch your show and enjoy the beauty of the "perfectly" bred dog while curled up next to my rescued mutt on the couch. I could see both sides of the same coin - why can't you? Why not celebrate the purebreds and remind us that for those of us that cannot afford it there are still thousands of dogs that need great homes in the shelters? Even my perfect mutt hangs her head at your shame!!

The problem with Pure breeds is that they tend to be over bred and lead to "undesirable" traits coming out and where do those poor unfortunate dogs end up? Abandoned, in shelters, mistreated..."Mutts" tend to be better dogs in the long run. Saddens me to see WKC ignore what happens to the "less desirables." They deserve to be loved too.

The people at Westminster ought to be ASHAMED of themselves. I can not believe that they are so ignorant to reality. Farewell to anything that has to do with the Westminister Kennel Club. Thank you to Pedigree for all that they do.
