Adopt Me! Mooka at Anjellicle Cats Rescue in NYC

April 25, 2012 in New York, New York Adoptables by Tails Magazine

Hi, I’m Mooka!

The people at the Anjellicle Cats Rescue call me a wonderful, engaging cat. In fact I was a staff favorite at Animal Care & Control. I was on the euthanasia list four times but they couldn’t bear to put me down. That makes me a very lucky guy. What makes me even luckier is having met the people at Anjellicle Cats Rescue. They are now taking wonderful care of me. What would make me the luckiest dude on the planet would be to find a forever home. I promise I would show you my gratitude every day for the rest of my life! I am only 5 years old so we should have a lot of years together of me worshipping you.

TAILS asked me to answer a few questions to give you a better sense of why I am such a favorite.

Where would you love to go on vacation?
To a house with people who would love me and decide that the vacation never had to end and that I could stay forever.

If you could nap anywhere, where would it be?
On a couch right next to a person who loves me.  I would want some part of me to be touching them while I slept so I would know they were still there.

If you could invite anyone to lunch, who would it be and why?
I would invite the people at the city shelter in New York who worked very hard to make sure I got out of there safely.  I am told I was a favorite cat there.

If you could have opposable thumbs for a day, what would you do?
I would see how they could help me hug people better.

Why should you go home with someone today?
Like I already said, I consider myself a very lucky guy but I did recently go home with a family but their resident cat didn’t want to have a brother. So, they had to bring me back, and to be honest, I’ve been pretty sad since. I have so much love and life to give to the right family, all you have to do is meet me and I know we’ll become fast friends!

If you want to meet me, and I hope you do, please contact Anjellicle Cats Rescue.

Greetings! My name is Zoey, and I am the sweetest cat in the world. If I were a student in class, I would be the one always raising my hand to be called on. I love attention, rubbing against your legs, and snuggling up on the couch. I am very affectionate, and I know we’ll make a great pair!

What movie star would you want
to portray you in a movie of your life?
Sure, she has an extra “O” in her name, but lets go with Zooey Deschanel. She is super-cute like me!

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Live the life I have always dreamed of in a nice house with tons of space, and lots of people and animals to love. And then, I’d
order a round of sushi for everyone!

Why should YOU go home with a family right now?
I am a great cat who will really brighten up your day and love you forever.

Who is your best friend?
I don’t have one yet, but I have a really good feeling about you!

Hi! My name is Cooper and I am an 8-month-old Pekingese/Poodle mix. I’m a well-behaved and social little man. I’m also very handsome and have an extremely soft coat. I am learning to walk on a leash, and follow some basic commands. I would make an excellent traveling companion. I enjoy going for rides, and usually end up falling asleep in the car. Give me some toys, another dog, even a cat—and I’m a happy guy!

What movie star would you want to portray you in a movie of your life?
Vince Vaughn is very funny. And the ladies think he is a nice guy. I think he would do an excellent job capturing my personality!

What do you dream of at night?
Growing up in a nice house with a loving family, with some other doggie playmates to wrestle with.

Why should YOU go home with a family right now?
I am just starting my life, and I cannot wait to get it started with you. I’m a sweet boy!

Hamburger or hot dog?
I’ll have one of each, please!

Hey there, I’m Mickey, and I have an awesome sister Minnie! We are such good friends—it is best if we are adopted together. Minnie wouldn’t be happy without me. We are perfect for a home with a nice fenced-in yard, so we can run around. We love to play chase, so a home with other small animals is not ideal. We may be a bit shy at first, but just be patient. Once we get adjusted to our new environment, we really open up and show our affection. Our personalities will shine!

What movie star would you want to portray you in a movie of your life?
Why not our namesakes? Mickey and Minnie Mouse would be perfect to play us!

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
I think I would just spend all of my time in a field with my sister chasing rabbits and squirrels and birds.

What do you dream of at night?
Finding the perfect home for my sister and me. We will bring so much joy to your family!

What is your favorite song?
“Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington, Jr.

Hi! My name is Lulu! I am a sleek and gorgeous black beauty. I love people, cats, and love to be petted by every visitor that comes my way. I am a quick learner. Loud noises and quick moves can frighten me, so I will thrive in structured, quiet environment. I can be a little bit timid around dogs I don’t know, but usually warm up to them. Right now, I spend my days hanging out with two other Greyhounds, a Boxer, and a cat. I might follow you around the house, and I like nothing better than to snuggle up and take a nap at your feet. I am a real sweetheart and will bond closely with my new family.

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
One with deep roots. My love will wrap itself around your heart and make a home there.

What is your favorite board game?
I like most board games as long as they are quiet. I think chess would do the trick.

What do you dream of at night?
Having fun with my forever family! I want nothing more than to be your best friend and make you feel special.

Hamburger or hot dog?
Oh, I am definitely a burger gal!

Why hello there! My name is Francine and I am just the most beautiful cat you have ever seen. I am not quite an adult, and not quite a kitten, but I’ve matured beyond kitten wildness. I am playful and I love attention. You can’t find a sweeter girl than me! I like to welcome visitors by nuzzling for a head rub. I am calm and friendly, and would be the perfect companion for kids and adults alike.

What is your favorite board game and why?
I am up for anything, but as a cat I do enjoy a nice game of Mousetrap every once and a while!

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Spoil my new caretaker with all of the luxuries they deserve.

What do you dream of at night?
Being free to roam around my forever home.

Why should YOU go home with a family right now?
I’m a great cat. Ask anyone here at the shelter. They all love me, but would be so happy to see me get a home!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I’m almost there, so I’d like to be a great companion to someone special.

Hey! Hey! Hey! My name is Chase and I am a high energy boy with a big heart! I have so much love to offer. I am working on my leash walking skills as well as my basic obedience. I currently know “Sit” and “Down.” I will need a strong, confident caretaker who can keep up with my bursts of energy and who will also continue training me. I would do best in a home with children 15-years-old or older.

What movie star would you want to portray you in a movie of your life?
I think Johnny Depp would do a great job of playing me! Plus, maybe I would be able to meet him!

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
I would make sure to donate a bunch of it to animal shelters. I would buy my new family whatever they want, and then get myself some new chew toys!

Why should YOU go home with a family right now?
I am a lot of fun. If you’ve got some energy and need a pal to hang out while you’re getting some exercise—I am the guy for you!

Hamburger or hot dog?
Don’t make me choose! Can’t I have them both?

My name is Hobo but I am so much more handsome than my name would suggest. C’mon, check out that mug. Aren’t I a looker? I am outgoing and super-friendly, and I crave human attention. I get along with other cats, so if you’ve got a playmate for me, that would be really great. I’m also great company because I am a big talker. I love to purr! Chances are, I probably won’t be here long so you should leave now and come visit me.

What movie star would you want to portray you in a movie of your life?
I think Mike Myers would do a good job. He’s kind of goofy and funny like me. I think we have a lot in common, but I don’t think I am Canadian. Of course, we won’t hold that against Mr. Myers.

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
I would buy a beautiful scratching post.

What do you dream of at night?
Life in my forever home.

Why should YOU go home with a family right now?
I am really friendly and I love to be around other people and cats. I would make a great addition to your family.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Happy. I just want to be happy. Maybe I can make you happy, too!

Hi! They don’t come smarter, sweeter, or more eager to please than me! I am a gorgeous 2-year-old Vizsla/Lab mix. I’ve got the energy of a puppy, and am eager for human interaction and love. I am now a rock star of obedience. I sit, stay, know “drop it,” and “leave it.” I love to play fetch more than anything in the world. I thrive when I am given time and space to run, so I would be happiest in a home where I am able to have regular exercise.  I love kids, am housebroken, and I play beautifully with other dogs. I am an extraordinarily brilliant, kind, loving companion.

What is your favorite board game?
No time for board games when life is passing you by. Lets get out of the house and have some physical fun.

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Treats. Treats. Treats. Treats. Treats. Treats. Treats. Treats. Oh, and probably some more treats.

What do you dream of at night?
I’m not sure, but whatever it is sure gets my legs going. I’ve been told it’s rather funny.

Beach or mountains?
Lets go for a hike!

Note from the Mayor’s Alliance: Are the Holidays a Good Time to Adopt A Pet?

December 1, 2011 in December 2011, New Jersey, New York, New York Adoptables by Tails Magazine

Holidays and Pet AdoptionFor some people, holidays are the perfect time to bring home a new furry family member. Some parents have more time off from work. The kids are out of school. If your household likes to spend the holidays at home sharing quality time together, it might be the ideal time to settle your new pet into his or her new home.

For some households, however, the holidays are chaotic—filled with bustling activity, visitors constantly coming and going—allowing no time to give a new family member the important attention he or she needs. If that’s the case in your home, it’s probably best to wait until life settles down after the holidays to introduce your new pet into your household.

While the idea of giving a pet as a holiday gift has great appeal to some people, remember that a pet isn’t a toy or an appliance that can be returned if it’s not to its recipient’s taste. Read the rest of this entry →
