Hi, I’m Frankie! I am a beautiful 15-month-old Tortoishell cutie. Laid back is they way to describe me.  I’ve got a lot of love here to spread around—so take me up on my offer. If you are looking for someone to snuggle up with you on the couch I am the girl for you!

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
A nice comfy one! I’d love to climb up there and take a nap.  A tall scratching post or kitty condo will also suffice.

If you won the lottery, what would
you do?
I would help all of my feline friends here. If I can’t give them homes, I can certainly help the staff here help them. They are wonderful, and there is always a need.

Who is your best friend?
Hopefully you! I need a lap to curl up in, and since winter is coming, I bet you could use a lap warmer!

What is your favorite song and why?
“Lazy Sunday.” I think that title kind of speaks for itself.

Hot dog or hamburger?
Oh, come on, what cat wouldn’t want to sink her teeth into a hot dog!

Hello, I am Brandy. I am a calm, sweet girl, who seems to get along with other dogs. I can be bossy at first, but I would really like a doggie playmate. I do not care for cats. I love people and will do almost anything for treats. I will do well in most family settings, so please give me a chance. I won’t need much grooming, just a bath and nail trim occasionally.

What do you dream of at night?
Playing, of course! I can be a little rough, but my playmates here seem to like me an awful lot.

What is your favorite song?
“Born Free” because that is what I want to be. I have spent too much time in this shelter and do not want to be in a crate when I find my forever home. I want some room to run and play with my new family.

What do you want to be when you
grow up?
Your best friend! I know that I’d be really good at it—just ask anyone here who knows me. But the only way you’re really going to find out is if you come here and visit me. I’ll win you over in a second.

Hamburger or Hotdog?
I will take all of the hamburgers and hotdogs you have.

Adopt Me—Woozel

Adopt Me—WoozelAnimal Rescue Foundation of Illinois (ARF-IL)

Glen Ellyn, 630.200.3828
ARF-IL.org

Woozel is a sweet 6-year-old who came to ARF with her sister, Heffalump, after their human’s bad accident. She’s shy at first, but her true personality shines when she is home and free to roam. Woozel is spayed, current on all shots, litter box trained, and front-paw declawed.

Who would be in your perfect family?
I miss my sister, so hopefully kitty friends, kids, really anyone who will play, pet my tummy, and snuggle. I am not accustomed to loud or chaotic settings, and dogs are a mystery to me.

Who would play you in a blockbuster movie?
Emma Watson from Harry Potter. I am loyal and true and up for adventure, hearty, yet gentle and loving.  And, if I do say so myself, I’m quite the looker.

What is your favorite song?
I Get Knocked Down, but I Get Up Again by Chumbawamba. My life has been bumpy but I always adapt.

Why should you go home with a family today?
I go with the flow. Want to play? I’ll play. Quiet time? I’ll cuddle. Explore? Absolutely! What’s in the toybox or around the next corner? I’m sad I lost my home but I have my best years ahead of me and can’t wait to share them with you.

Meet Widget. She was brought to One Tail at a Time by the Safe Humane Chicago Court Case Dog Program, a program that helps dogs whose previous guardians are being prosecuted for animal abuse or neglect.  Widget is a 4-year-old, tan and white Bulldog mix. She is up-to-date on shots and spayed. Widget loves people despite her background and loves to cuddle and play in the yard. As part of this great program, Widget can be trained at no cost by a professional dog trainer in the Chicago area!

What is your favorite activity?
I just love running around in the backyard, even more than walks. I also enjoy relaxing and watching TV, all cuddled up on cold nights.
I love to learn and can’t wait to get more canine college!

What is your perfect family?
I’m a bit shy and sensitive to my surroundings, so I would flourish in a quieter house where
I am your only companion.

Why should you go home with a family today?
Although I have had a rough time, I remain sweet and upbeat. Anyone who will take the time to get to know me will have a lifelong
best friend! Just look at these eyes!

Meet Chardonnay. She is an 8-year-old female Calico. She’s spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and is really ready to find her forever home. Chardonnay can be shy around new people, but becomes very outgoing and friendly once she gets more comfortable. She is joyful and loves to explore.

If a movie star were portraying you in a blockbuster movie, who would get the role?
I don’t need anyone to portray me. Good looks and talent run in my family. My sister modeled for cat food, and you can see me at YouTube.com/watch?v=0lTvfq8CKXo. I’m always ready for my close-up!

Who are your best friends?
I love playing with France, London, and French Fry. We beg for treats together—strength in numbers! I adore youngsters, like that darling little Wafer. He’s always giving me kisses.

If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go?
I’m happy with a warm sunbeam, a fresh bowl of water, and a good friend. It’s my French Riviera.

Why should you go home with a family today?
I want someone to tell about the birds I saw out the window, and I’m a great listener. I’m a wonderful companion for a family, or, if you are on your own and need a new bestie to share your stories with after a long day, I’m your girl!

Flo is a 4-year-old Basset Hound, spayed and current on all vaccinations. She is housebroken, great with dogs and cats, and loves car rides. Flo has excellent leash manners and loves to go for leisurely walks. She is low energy and prefers the couch to running. Flo adores people and needs to be in a home where people are home more than away.

Who would be in your perfect family?
Perhaps a retired couple who stay home a lot, but have grandchildren visit. Maybe someone who works from home. A family where someone’s usually home. I’d make an exceptional therapy dog and may be happy in a nursing home where I could wander and visit with residents. I just want to be with people!

Who would play you in a blockbuster movie?
Elizabeth Taylor—a classic beauty, gorgeous, soulful eyes, and a true humanitarian!

What is your favorite song?
“Easy” by Lionel Richie. That’s me, easy like Sunday morning.

Why should you go home with a family today?
I’m an easy, gentle soul who just needs a bowl of food and somewhere soft to rest. I’ll follow you anywhere—kids’ sporting events, errands, even around the neighborhood. I’m extremely gentle with everyone from small children to senior citizens. I’ll make a fabulous addition to just about any family.

Meet Zeus. This handsome 9-year-old fellow is described by those who know him as awesome. He is sweet, gentle, affectionate, and so laid-back. His family had to move and were unable to take Zeus with them. He enjoys greeting his family at the door when they come home and sitting next to them on the couch to watch Animal Planet. Zeus has a huge heart and loves soft hugs. He is a sly thief, though, and steals the hearts of everyone he meets.

What do others admire most about you?
I’m a great listener. Tell me anything. I will do everything I can to make you feel better. Being close to people makes me happy as well, so it’s win/win.

Where’s your dream vacation destination?
I prefer a family “stay-cation.” I want to curl up on the couch watching movies with a nice tuna treat.

What’s your favorite activity?
Although I like a “stay-cation,” I still love to soak up the sun. Chicago weather makes me really appreciate the times the sun comes out and I take full advantage.

Why should you go home with a family today?
I’m the ultimate companion: a chill attitude, easy to please, great to be around, loving, warm, and an attentive listener.

Honey is a beautiful 18-month-old, red-vanilla Terrier mix who is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and sooo loving. She’s friendly and playful with people and dogs of all ages and loves to snuggle on the couch and relax. Honey is getting a special second chance after being abandoned on the beach in February and falling through the ice! Thankfully, a Good Samaritan saved her and brought her into the shelter so she could find a nice warm forever home. Honey’s foster family includes a foster brother, Lucky, a human foster sister, and SIX kitty siblings who are tons of fun!

What do others most admire about you?
My abundance of love and charming upbeat personality despite what I have been through in my life.

Who would play you in a blockbuster movie?
Halle Berry. She is also stunning and has experience playing Catwoman, which I believe I could do after being around so many kitty siblings myself.

Why should you go home with a family today?
I was abandoned to survive outside on the coldest day of the year – and I almost didn’t! I know my rescue from the ice is only the first part of my incredible journey, and I’m looking for a family to share my incredible second chance with me.

Meet Palmetto and Frond, a mother/daughter combo. Palmetto, the mom, is a 4-year-old, cuddly, loving, friendly, very talkative, black and white tuxedo cat. Frond, her daughter, is a 4-month-old gorgeous sweetheart. They love to cuddle together, wrestle, groom each other, and adore each other’s presence. They need to be adopted together, as being separated would be too traumatic for them. They come complete with toys, a scratching post, and a carrier. All they need now is a new home!

Who would be in your perfect family?
We would prefer a home without dogs, and ideally us as the only cats. We do, however, enjoy the company of rabbits. We know, sort of funny, huh?

What is your favorite movie?
Freaky Friday, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. They make such an amazing mother/daughter combo.

Why should you go home with a family today?
We are a beautiful, friendly pair of kitties who would make a family very happy. We have an endless amount of love to give and would love to receive some in return.

Adopt Me – Buttons

Hello there! I’m Buttons. I’m a Cocker Spaniel, approximately 4 to 5 years old. I love everyone I meet…there is not a child, adult, or dog I don’t get along with! I am not too sure about cats, though. I have beautiful long hair, that needs to be maintained so I can look beautiful! I am fully vaccinated and in great health.

What’s your favorite book?
The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck. It’s a classic and it sounds like it might be about food!

If you weren’t a dog, what kind of animal would you be?
I’d be a cat. They get just as much attention and love as we dogs do. Those are two of the best things in life!

Why should you go home with a family today?
I am a good boy who deserves a chance to prove that to a great family. I’m always up for meeting new people, and ready to find the ones who’d like to keep me around forever.
