There are so many benefits to brushing your dog’s teeth on a regular basis.
Regular brushing helps prevent plaque and tartar buildup, prevent gum, dental or other diseases, and maintain fresh breath. Poor dental hygiene can greatly affect the liver, heart, and stomach, and can contribute to the development of various illnesses and diseases.
This simple, all-natural, and easy homemade toothpaste includes ingredients that deodorize breath, scrub away plaque, whiten teeth, and offer antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. I’ve tried many commercial and store-bought toothpastes, but have never felt like I’ve gotten as great of results with them as I do with my homemade toothpaste.
1/2 cup of organic coconut oil (melted down into liquid)
1-2 tbsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp organic turmeric
1 tsp finely organic chopped parsley
1/4 of all-natural beef flavor tab (bouillon)
1 tsp water
1. Finely chop parsley.
2. Add all-natural beef flavor tab with water and parsley into mixing dish or container, stir well until beef tab is dissolved.
3. Pour in coconut oil, add in turmeric and baking soda. Mix well.
4.Put in the refrigerator for about an hour to harden
5. Mix ingredients again once you take out of refrigerator.
6. Using about a teaspoon at a time, apply to your dog’s toothbrush and brush in slow, soft circles along the teeth and gum lines
Keep in mind: What you use to brush your dog’s teeth matters, too. A regular human toothbrush isn’t a good idea because they’re not made for dogs and their specific dental needs. I use Woobamboo, an eco-friendly, all-natural and antimicrobial bamboo toothbrush with my dogs. Hudson and Izzy use the large breed toothbrush and Mylah uses the small breed toothbrush. These brushes have soft bristles for their teeth, allow us to reach way in the back of their mouths, and are easy to clean (they clean themselves naturally). Bonus: they are also good for the environment.
