Buckaroo came into Chicago’s Animal Care and Control after police responded to a complaint of dog fighting. He was found running loose in a blood-splattered basement. Everyone in the home was arrested and charged with dog fighting and/ or attending a dog fight, both of which are felonies in Illinois.
Buckaroo was wonderful during his time at CACC—working with numerous volunteers, and never failing to impress them with his large, low-riding size, big bowling ball shaped head, and his desire to learn new things (for treats, of course!).
Dogaholicks Rescue pulled Buckaroo from CACC and transferred him to their rescue in Indiana. Through the powers of social media, a friend of the rescue shared a picture of Buckaroo with a friend who immediately fell for Buck. He fostered Buckaroo for a bit, and in July realized he was in love and became a “foster failure.” Buckaroo was too perfect to let go, and is now happily living with a wonderful family in his forever home.
Sadly, not all of the dogs pulled from similar situations end up as lucky as Buckaroo…but when they do, it is always a reason to celebrate!
