This past July my family fostered Mason, an adorable puppy who quickly found his forever home. When we parted ways it was difficult for my children to imagine that another “perfect” dog would find us. However, they kept the faith, and just days before school started (and following a 24-hour stint of my 8-year-old asking “Can we go to the shelter now?” every seven minutes) the entire family headed over to Felines & Canines. Our goal was to find a small dog that the kids could pick up and carry around; basically the opposite of our current 68-pound four-legged love.
Today we are fostering Balboa, whose name has been changed to Monkey Moo Moo Murphy McGee, after a character who is the star of bedtime stories I tell. I believe that with so many moving parts in our house, it is best for everyone involved that we foster first. (And yes, I know that re-naming him is practically like adopting him, but he really did need a more fitting name.)
It’s been just a few short weeks, and while this funny little guy clearly loves the kids the most, he is still learning to trust my husband Barry (read: not bark like a maniac and go flying out of the room when he walks in). Monkey does seem to be thriving here. I think the photos say more than words ever could.
As you can see there is definitely a love connection! I will keep you updated on Monkey’s story. In the meantime, I will keep capturing these adorable moments happening daily at our house—
