Devin’s Tails – Guest Post: Puppy Max

This guest post is by a puppy named Max, as dictated to his person, Tammy Crosby

Hello! I’m Max! I’m kind of new here—well, to the whole world really. I’m five months old and I’m having all kinds of great adventures with my new family. It is taking me a while to figure everything out though—I had no idea there were so many things that a little pup needs to learn!

Take this morning for example. Ladyhuman had a total meltdown when she stepped into the perfect little pile of poo I left for her on the top of the stairs. When she hopped down the stairs she didn’t seem very happy, but seriously, that was some of my best work!

She was really ungrateful; in fact, she tossed me out in the yard. The nerve.

Speaking of the yard, I hate being out there in the mornings. I’m quite short and the grass is always cold and wet. It brushes my belly and I don’t like it one bit. I mean do you see my Ladyhuman walking around outside in the cold, naked and barefoot? Exactly. So mostly, I just stand on the deck in front of the invisible wall that separates the outside from the inside. I wait until she lets me in the house again, and when she does, I tear off upstairs and poo on them again. And then we play the whole game over again until I’m empty and have to re-load!

The invisible wall is like magic or something. Even my new babysitter, the old dog they call Ginger, hasn’t got it quite sorted out yet. Sometimes the wall is hard, and I bonk my head on it. Other times it’s quite soft and I bounce off it and tumble to my butt, and other times Ladyhuman waves her paw in front of it and it’s completely gone! So now I’ve learnt to tap it with my paw first, just to be sure, but old Ginger just runs her head into it every time. I’m starting to think that must have happened to her a lot over the years…

Aside from her occasional lapse of common sense I really do like my new babysitter quite a lot. She plays tug-o-war with me, lets me take her treats right from her mouth, and no matter how annoying I am, she always lets me snuggle with her on the couch. She’s teaching me all kinds of cool stuff—like how to get treats out of my Kong, and that when the dishwasher door is open ya gotta hustle to get the goods quick before it closes again!

There’s also a Littlehuman here. He’s the one I picked to take me home. I think I have pretty good instincts for a puppy because I just knew we’d be very best friends—and of course, we are. *puppy grin*  He’s my person now and I can’t wait for all the amazing things he and I are going to see and do together!

I think I hear my Littlehuman waking up right now—well okay, no, not really—but close enough! *runs barking to wake Littlehuman*

I’ll chat with you all later! Til’ then, keep your ears up and your tails wagging!
