On Saturday, October 6, 2012, Vhoebe, a Belgian Malinois from San Diego, Calif., broke the Diving Dog World Record at the 15th Annual Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals in Gray Summit, Mo. with a dive of 32 feet, 3 inches! Wow!
Vhoebe’s human is San Diego resident, Lise Ann Strum, and she has been training in Dog Diving 5-6 times a week since 2009. Vhoebe has owned the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge record twice in the past three years and finally regained her crown (for a third time) this past weekend. Prior to Saturday, the World Record belonged to Cochiti, a 6-year-old Whippet from Olympia, Wash., who dove 32 feet this past June at the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge Western Regional in San Diego, Calif.
The Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge features amazing dogs of all breeds and sizes that compete in a number of athletic events, such as dog diving, small and large dog agility, freestyle flying disc, Jack Russell hurdle racing, and 30-weave pole racing. You can learn more about it here.
Congratulations to Vhoebe–that’s one super impressive dive!
