In my Legend of Glory series of fantasy novels, Hallelujah is an intrepid demon-fighting Australian Shepherd whose job is to protect her person Glory—a job at which she excels.
As is the case with all of God’s creatures, Hallie has a unique personality. She really doesn’t like vampires, although she’ll brave an entire room full of them to retrieve a raspberry-filled super-thick triple-glazed doughnut (she is a dog with very clear priorities)! Hallelujah is partial to angels, and she enjoys talking with witches. She’ll tolerate being dressed up in silly costumes for her heroic mission, but after three baths in a row to remove blood and dangerous scents, she elevates deep, sorrowful sighs to an art form. Hallie can dance, and she sings her own special version of “The Hallelujah Chorus,” but her greatest talent of all is extraordinary courage.
She is the new Wonder Woman of the canine crowd!
PRETTY SACRIFICES, the second novel of this popular trilogy, was just released. In it, Hallelujah faces a unique set of challenges. A new antagonist arrives on the scene in the form of Hex, a demonic puppy who belongs to the demoness Nyx. Nyx and her evil minions have just occupied an adjacent farm. As Glory’s guardian angel Sasha says, “Hallelujah is conflicted. Hex is such a cute little puppy, and Hallelujah’s latent maternal instincts are wrestling with the desire to nurture her while at the same time wanting to tear her to pieces.” Ah, yes, Hallie certainly faces a strange dilemma.
To complicate matters, the local wildlife sense the malevolence of the area’s new residents and are showing up in droves on Glory’s farm in search of refuge. Thankfully, Hallie has a new assistant named Milton, an intense Border Collie who uses his own special talents to help keep all the critters in line.
However, in the midst of all this chaos, Hallelujah never loses sight of her primary mission—to protect Glory at all costs. Her commitment
culminates in an act of such incredible courage it leads to a stunning ending that one reviewer called “jaw-dropping.”
As I write novels that feature such amazing creatures, I remind myself it isn’t just in fantasy where one can find such courage and loyalty. It is in the nature of dogs, and I am honored to explore their special souls via my fiction.
Please read my novels and meet Hallelujah. Also, look for her in GENESIS, the forthcoming final book in The Legend of Glory trilogy. I promise you, she is one intrepid demon-fighting dog you will never forget! www.GloryLegend.com
