It’s easy to take your dog’s favorite foods and re-purpose them into tasty frozen snacks for the summertime. If you’ve got a freezer, you’ve got the ability to create all sorts of yummy frozen treats (trust us, your dog will love you even more if you give her these):
Fill up an ice cube tray with chicken broth or beef broth. If you’d like, you can also fill each cube halfway with water before adding broth. Drop some additional tasty morsels in there—such as cooked chicken, or just some broken up pieces of your dog’s favorite treats—and freeze.
Stick some cut up green beans, carrots, or other fruit/vegetable your dog enjoys into a bag in the freezer for handy frozen on-the-go treats. It won’t freeze all the way through, but it will retain its taste and refresh your hot doggie after some time spent outside.
We love this recipe for “Basic Frosty Pawz”: Mix in a blender: 32 oz. plain yogurt, 1 mashed ripe banana, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 2 tablespoons honey; freeze mixture in ice cube tray. Your dog will adore this creamy frozen treat!
Mix up the “Basic Frosty Pawz” recipe by swapping out ingredients: try using pureed pumpkin or sweet potato instead of a mashed banana.
Summer is a perfect time to get creative trying out fun frozen snacks for your dog, so get out the ice cube trays and whip up something yummy!
