America’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston and her love Justin Theroux are happy to announce their new black and white puppy named Sophie. The lucky pup has now gone from being abandoned with her litter mates and left in a box outside a shelter to the lap of Hollywood luxury. Jennifer and Justin did not choose Sophie. The Pit-Boxer mix picked the pair by approaching the couple on her own. Now the Wanderlust stars are in wonder over Sophie.
“Sophie came up to us, and that was sort of a big indicator of they choose you,” said Theroux.
Jennifer and Justin came to the shelter thanks to a call from Aniston’s extreme animal activist friend who called her about the puppy litter.
“We were there for three hours, and I’m telling you, I was almost walking out with three puppies. It’s so hard. That’s why we named her Sophie, because it was Sophie’s Choice. I was crying – it was so hard,” said Aniston.
Sophie joins Aniston’s pet family after the actress lost her beloved Norman last year. The 15-year-old Corgi-Terrier mix was a constant companion for the former Friends star. Aniston is well-known for being a dog lover and starred in the canine inspired film Marley & Me with Owen Wilson in 2008. When Norman died he left Aniston and her other dog, a white German Shepherd mix named Dolly, behind. Now, not only are Jennifer and Justin thrilled with their new “daughter” but so is Dolly.
“Dolly loves her crate. We were a little nervous about them getting along. Dolly doesn’t have a crate anymore but she loved it. Somehow she walked her way into Sophie’s crate, which is tiny… It was good because Sophie was like, ‘I love going wherever you go.’ They slept there together the whole night.”
The couple are now involved in training Sophie to be housebroken but the new pup isn’t as fond of her crate as Dolly. So far, it seems that parenthood is natural for Jennifer and Justin. Proud mom Jennifer shared her adoption story with Jay Leno and Ellen DeGeneres as she showed off puppy photos.
