The Derby City Disc Dogs is partnering with Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) to host an event the weekend of April 14th and 15th, 2012. It will be held at Champion Park which is located on the corner of Zorn and River Road. The DCDD group is hosting a qualifier event and it expects 50 to 75 groups to come in for this event. In all, there will be over 100 dogs competing and most of the disc dog competitors are coming in from out of town, so this will be a great opportunity to make new connections.
The event is open to the public. The booth space fee for businesses is $50 and non-profits are free. This fee will also include a space for the Happy Tails hour to be held at Waterfront on April 30th.
There really will not be overnight security but visitors can leave their tents up at their own risk. Some of the disc dog competitors may camp down there but it is not certain at this time, so be prepared to load in and out. Competitors will be able to pull up to your spot to offload and load.
DCDD has done a few of these events at different times and has been pretty successful with them, but this will be a first for LMAS and it would be great if you could come out and support them. This could become a regular event at this time of year and hopefully will tie into the Derby schedule.
