Trained Cat Helps Lost Pets Find Their Way Home

A cat from Washington state named Cheetos is helping lost pets find their way home with the silent treatment.

Cheetos, a 21-pound Tabby Cat has been trained to remain silent while a search dog works to find him. Cheetos works with Missing Pets Partnership, and spokesperson Kat Albrecht says that many lost or injured pets might not make noise, so it is important for the search dogs to be able to find silent pets by their scent.

Albrecht explains, “When he smells cats, his tail will go in a whirly circle and we know he’s got cat scent.” (KOMONews.com, March 12, 2012)

The idea came to Albrecht after experiencing the heartbreak of losing a pet.

Want to see Cheetos in action? He will be on Animal Planet this Saturday, March 17 at 8:00 p.m. You can also check him out in the video below.
