The entire staff here at TAILS is extremely saddened by the death of Sarah Burke.
At only 29, it is quite clear Sarah had so much life and promise ahead of her. The four-time X-Games champion and Olympian skier not only loved competing, but we also know how much she loved her dog Dexter.
We were lucky enough to get to know Sarah a few weeks before her tragic accident, and the words humble, caring, honest, driven, and funny do not even begin to do justice to the kind of person she was.
Sarah was a pioneer in her sport and blazed a path for future female athletes to follow. She was truly a credit to her profession, and we know she will be missed.
All of our hearts and prayers are with her family. While nothing can be said to ease the pain and grief of losing someone so loved, we are glad to have known Sarah—if only for a short time.
