US Coast Guard members at the Indiana River Coast Guard base in Delaware have opened their hearts (and their home) to their newly adopted shelter dog, Mr. Beefy.
This black and white bundle of love and joy was cared for by the Delaware SPCA as a cruelty case for over a year before being adopted into his new home.
Mr. Beefy now has not one person, but 20 US Coast Guard members to spoil him rotten. His rank from shelter dog was upgraded to an official military dog and a US Coast Guard seaman apprentice!
In a follow up visit, numerous staff and volunteers with the Delaware SPCA spent time getting lots of kisses from Mr. Beefy and listened to stories from the other members of the Coast Guard about how loved Mr. Beefy is by everyone on the base.
Mr. Beefy now enjoys a life of constant companionship and doggie bliss. He sleeps in the bed with whomever pulls overnight duty, sits on the couch watching TV with Coast Guard members, and he knows how to open the door to his favorite room—the cafeteria.
It seems Mr. Beefy received the best gift a shelter dog could ask for—a loving forever home—and for that we are forever thankful.

What a beautiful story about Beefy. I have a rescue in Maricopa, Arizona and would love to get some of my 39 dogs beautiful homes like Beefy has gotten. I will ship my dogs if they are going to a wonderful home. God bless you all for taking Beefy.
Love,
Grace

This is one of the best stories read today! I volunteer at the Quincy Animal Shelter in Quincy, MA and we see such sad stories so this is great! One of our wonderful pooches now calls Cape Cod his home, after he was recruited and is now in training as a drug-sniffing dog! Shelter animals are the best! Congratulations to Mr. Beefy!

I would first like to thank the Indaina River Coast Guard Base for their service to our Country. I live in a free country because of their sacrifices.
And next, I want to thank them for adopting a Rescue. Mr Beefy now has a home where love prevails. What more can anyone ask for, man or beast alike.
