Tell Petland to STOP Selling Puppies

October 27, 2011 by Jillian at Tails in Featured, Home with 20 Comments

Sad puppies in cageMore than 95% of animals for sale at Petland USA stores are from commercial puppy mills. Petland Canada has already stopped the sale of animals in their stores and we think it should be stopped in the US too!

Dogs who are born in puppy mills are born into deplorable conditions and are often afflicted with serious health problems and defects largely due to over and in-breeding. In addition, the dogs who are bred to produce the puppies suffer miserably their entire life as breeding machines. Some spend their whole lives NEVER going outside or experiencing love. These innocent animals are given a horrible prison sentence solely for the financial gain of the puppy mill owner.

According to transport and shipping records from the Department of Agriculture (USDA) covering more than 5 states,17,000 puppies delivered to Petland were sourced from puppy mills. USDA inspection records were cross-checked and source facilities were visited to confirm this fact. The HumaTell Petland to stop selling puppiesne Society of the United States led this investigation.

Petland Canada has announced that they will stop selling pets, why not Petland USA? With help from local shelters, successful Petland franchisee conversions to adoption models are already operating in PA.

Time to step-up Petland. Do the right thing. STOP selling pets in your US stores!
