Cobain, a two-year-old Pit Bull mix from Pennsylvania, is being called a hero after he found an elderly woman who had fallen and had no way to get help. Cobain alerted his guardian, Jimmie Belchik that something was wrong while out for a walk.

Belchick trusted his dog’s instincts and followed the dog to an area where an elderly woman lay crumpled at the bottom of a storm drain in a ditch near a senior center. The woman had fallen in an area that made her presence difficult to see.

The woman was was weak and could barely speak. Belchik called paramedics who took the woman to the hospital. She is expected to be okay.

Belchik is extremely proud of Cobain and his life-saving instinct.

“My dog put Lassie to shame. He came and alerted me when somebody needed help and what more can you ask for out of your dog,” Belichick said.

Good boy, Cobain!
