Harbor, an 8-year-old black and tan Coonhound from Boulder, Colorado isn’t just your typical dog. Aside from being a lovable pet, Harbor also has some rather large features. His ears measuring 12.25” (left ear) and 13.5” (right ear) have just landed him in the Guinness World Records 2012 edition for the “Longest Ears on a Living Dog”.
You may also be surprised to learn that Harbor doesn’t use his extremely long ears to enhance his hearing. Rather a Coonhound’s long ears are used to help sweep scents to his nose.
Jennifer Wert, Harbor’s guardian, recalls that when he was a puppy, Harbor’s ears would sometimes cause him to trip and roll down the stairs. Poor guy! Now, where ever Harbor goes his long, floppy ears bring a smile to people’s faces.
Harbor will be featured in the 2012 edition of the Guinness World Records which comes out on September 15th.
