Pit Bull Puppy Found Floating in Canal With Cord Wrapped Around Neck

A 4-month-old pit bull puppy was rescued from a Florida canal where she was found with a lock, chain, electric cord and leather collar wrapped around her neck, My Fox Tampa Bay reported.

“This puppy is lucky to be alive. She did not get into her current physical condition overnight and if it wasn’t for her rescuer pulling her out of that canal, she most likely would have died a horrible death,” Scott Daly, executive director for Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Petersburg, Fla., told the station.

The pup was dehydrated, malnourished and is has a severe skin infection caused by mites, he said.

“Lotus,” as they have nicknamed her, was floating on a board in a street-level residential canal when she was spotted by an unidentified good Samaritan.
