This past weekend kicked off the North Shore Animal League America’s 2011 Pet Adoptathon drive — a world-wide event that runs throughout the month of May in an effort to place pets in loving forever homes.
Watching this local news report on Yahoo! News made me want to catch the next flight to Long Island and snatch up one of these adorable animals! You can find shelters near you participating by following this link.
To celebrate, Tails wants to hear your adoption story, and share it with others who may be interested in adopting their next pet, but are on the fence.
Did you adopt a puppy that changed your life? Or, maybe it was a senior dog that stole your heart? How about a cat who just won you over as soon as you laid eyes on them?
In addition to dogs and cats, there are a variety of other pets in shelters who are waiting for a new home, too. I once adopted two Russian tortoises, Bert and Ernie, who were bought for use in a classroom, but were then dropped off at the end of the school year.
Share your stories in the comments below, and we will select at least one a week to feature on our website every week throughout the month of May. Anyone who comments will also be entered to win a weekly drawing for a special gift from Tails Magazine.
We can’t wait to read your happy “tails”!
