The Spring Dog Festival, “Fetch a Wave” will take place Sun., May 15 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Soquel High School in Soquel, Calif.
Festival goers can also participate in the Surf Dog Photo Booth, Doxie Dash Races, Disc Dog Fetch, Weenie Bobbing, Best Kisser, Ball Retrieve and Bulldog and Pug Beauty Contests, as well as other activities.
A surf theme dog costume parade will feature prizes for the Best Surfer Dude, Best Beach Babe and Best Surf Wagon at the Spring Dog Festival.
The festival includes dog demonstrations in agility, doga, lure coursing and Frisbee disc dogs, giving attendees the opportunity to try the sports out and talk to the experts.
Over 20 games and demonstrations, 60 booths and 200 volunteers are planned for this year’s event with an estimated crowd of 3,000 people and over 1,200 dogs.
One of the group’s goals is to keep dogs in homes by encouraging people to engage in sports and activities with their dogs. The festival will feature several animal rescue groups and an adoptable dog showcase to help rescue dogs find forever homes.
Presenting sponsor for the event is, Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital.
