The hardest part of this project? Getting your pet to sit still for the photo shoot! You’ll need to catch your furry friend looking sideways rather than at the camera, so that you can get a good profile shot of their head. Remember, once you’ve cut out the silhouette, you won’t retain the detail from the photograph, so try to snap a shot that captures Fido or Fifi’s most defining features. Does your dog have big ears? Is your cat’s tail super-long? Let them stand out! The important part is to fit it all in one photo. Once you’ve selected the perfect shot, print it out. The quality doesn’t have to be great, but you’ll want your pet’s head to take up the greater part of an 8×10 sheet of paper.
– 8×10 frame
– Printed 8×10 profile picture of your pet
– Two contrasting sheets of paper or fabric; solid or patterned
Step 1 – Taking the picture that you printed, cut out along your pet’s head.
Step 2 – On a sheet of paper, trace the outline of your pet’s head using the cut out photograph.
Step 3 – Cut out your pet’s outline on the paper you just traced.
Step 4 – Take an 8×10 sheet of paper, center the cutout of your pet’s head, and tape it into place. (I used black fabric for a richer look, but get creative!)
Step 5 – Put the completed project in the frame. Voila, you’re done!
