In the wake of last week’s horrendous tsunami, relief and rescue workers from around the world have descended upon northern Japan. And right there on the front line is Baxter.
Baxter is a golden retriever from Los Angeles. He is one of several dogs from the United States on the scene as part of a response effort authorized by the U.S. State Department.
Baxter himself was rescued from an animal shelter in February 2006 by the nonprofit National Disaster Search Dog Foundation. Certified in canine research in 2007, Baxter has been hard at work at many disaster locations including the Gulf Coast in 2008 to search for survivors of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
From rescued to rescuer, looks like Baxter has found a great way to return the thanks.
