Green Pawz, an eco friendly pet boutique that opened its doors in the San Fransisco last May, offers products that are safe for pets and the environment.

Julianne Walsh, owner and president of Green Pawz, has been in the natural and organic products industry for 14 years. So when she began to notice an increase in the department of natural and organic pet products, she decided to take her career in a new direction.

“I wanted to do something that was going to incorporate my green lifestyle and work with pets,” Walsh says. “I find such joy with dogs and wanted to be able to offer a place of community with other passionate pet guardians.”

Green Pawz offers a selection of natural, organic and raw pet food for dogs and cats, and specializes in environmentally friendly products and supplies that include collars, leashes, and toys made from hemp, bamboo and cork.

The boutique also offers professional and self-service pet washing and grooming. Walsh says she offers a stress-free environment for animals. “We take appointments so your dog or cat is only here for no more than three hours,” she says. “Our in and out grooming experience helps to minimize the anxiety for your pet.”

Additionally, the boutique offers services and relaxation methods for animals. A dental hygienist comes to the store once a month to clean the pet’s teeth without the use of anesthesia, and recently the boutique has been working with a local canine holistic therapist from Wags n Wellness to provide acupressure and massages that relieve stress and pain.

The store itself is “green” in a variety of ways as well, from its recycling system to the use of non- toxic cleaners. Walsh also supports local companies and vendors to help reduce her business’ carbon footprint. She’s a proponent of organic farming, which eliminates the use of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and genetically modified organisms, and offers products that are manufactured with sustainable materials, which has less of an impact on the environment.

Walsh urges pet guardians to live a green lifestyle with their pet by using all natural and organic products, and providing their pet with environmentally-friendly toys.

Walsh also recommends that animals eat a raw or natural diet. “It makes such a difference in your pet’s temperament and behavior while supporting sustainable practices,” she says. “I believe that high quality organic food provides the foundation of a healthy and happy life for both pets and humans.”
